 Lent Day 12, Sunday, March 1, 2026

“Dream Big”

Do we have the right to dream big?

Many of us quietly question whether it is appropriate to dream at all. Responsibilities stack up. Years pass. We tell ourselves that certain seasons are behind us. Today’s invitation is simple: Dream Big.

It is understandable that we hesitate. We have lived full lives. We have faced challenges that once seemed impossible. We have endured loss, change, disappointment, and surprise. Experience can make us cautious, yet that same experience also proves something else:  We have overcome more than we once thought we could.

If that is true, then why would we stop dreaming now?  Dreaming big is not about ego. It is about vision. It is about believing that God’s work in us and through us is not finished.

Hope, in the Biblical sense, is larger than personal success. It stretches beyond our own comfort or achievement. God’s hope includes restoration, healing, reconciliation, and renewal for the whole world. When we dream big, we align ourselves with something far greater than our own plans.

Lent calls us to focus on grace and mercy. It also invites us to imagine what might seem impossible. Our small sacrifices may feel insignificant, like drops in a bucket, but God specializes in multiplication. A drop offered faithfully can become something far greater.

Our work matters. Our commitment matters. Our days and our weeks are not simply exercises in discipline; they are acts of faith.

Today, let’s not shrink our vision. Let’s “Dream Big.”

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  (Jeremiah 29:11, NRSVue)
