 Lent Day 15, Wednesday, March 4, 2026

“Complete a Random Act of Kindness”

Today’s Lenten challenge is simple: Complete a random act of kindness.

This one seems like an obvious fit for any time of year, yet it consistently becomes one of the most favorite devotions. Why do you think that is?

Perhaps this challenge resonates because, deep down, we know we are created to bless others. Maybe it appeals to us because it gently shifts the focus away from ourselves. Or, maybe we have discovered something important: When we bless someone else, something inside us is strengthened as well.

Kindness changes more than the recipient. It changes the giver.

There are many reasons to practice generosity. People carry burdens we cannot see. A small, unexpected gesture can brighten a difficult day. Sometimes the simplest acts have the greatest impact. A kind note. A paid bill. A compliment. A door held open. A meal delivered. A message sent at just the right time.

We never fully know what someone else is facing. That makes kindness even more powerful.  So, how will you bless someone today? What small, surprising act could bring a smile?

If you pay attention, opportunities will appear. They usually do.  Complete one random act of kindness today. You may discover it is not so random after all.

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”  (Hebrews 13:16, NIV)
