 Lent Day 21, Tuesday, March 10, 2026

“Give to Someone in Need”

Who needs something today?  The answer is simple: Lots of people.

Today’s Lenten challenge is to provide something that someone else needs. The purpose is twofold:  First, to recognize how blessed we truly are; Second, to become more aware of the needs around us.

It is easy to focus on what we do not have. We compare. We worry. We wish for more. In the process, we sometimes forget that many of our most basic needs have already been met.

Not everyone can say the same.  Some people need food. Others need clothing. Someone may need gas in their car. Someone else might need a few dollars for a simple necessity.

Needs appear around us every day. A neighbor may need help carrying groceries inside. Someone may need assistance with laundry. Another person might simply need an extra set of hands to fix something around the house.  Often, the most important need is simply the one that crosses our path.

Be alert today. Pay attention. Look for the opportunity rather than waiting for it to find you.

If we are watching closely, a need will appear. It usually does.  And when it does, respond with generosity.  Give to someone in need today!

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”  (Proverbs 19:17, NIV)
